I chose the following picture of the woman because it represents all the oppressed women in the story. Whether it was by the male figures in their life or the rules that were set by the Taliban. On page 248, a whole list of rules is established specifically for women (e.g. "Cosmetics are forbidden, Jewelry is forbidden...if you do not [follow the rules], you will be severly beaten" Furthermore, I used a picture of a sunset to describe the title and the beauty behind the poem that Hakim recited. I used a black background to show the grief and the sorrow that surfaces throughout the novel.
