Khaled Hosseini
In 1965 Khaled Hosseini was born in Kabul, Afghanistan. Due to his father's job as a diplomat in the Afghan Foreign Ministry, the Hosseini family relocated to Paris. In 1980, the family wanted to return to Kabul, however that was the same time when the Soviet Union had invaded Afghanistan. Therefore, the family took refuge in USA. This was where Khaled Hosseini graduated with his medical degree. While practicing medicine, Hosseini began writing his first novel, The Kite Runner and it was published in 2003. His second novel, A Thousand Splendid Suns was published in 2007. These two books sold around 38 million copies worldwide. His third and most recent book was published in 2013.
